Default Fishing in Sri Lanka

Hi,would like to know from u guys the best place in Lanka to set base from to do some chartered deep sea and shore fishing in the last week of December.

As my wife and i have only 5 days to be exact and we would like to maximize our time there and i will be bringing my boat and spinning gears. We are budgeted travellers and do not need luxurious accommodation. Appreciate if you guys could offer advice and recommendations. Thank you

Cheers

Default Sri Lanka

Hello Guitalk

I am mayselvel often in Sri lanka because since One year I build boats over there
In the near future I want to organise Fishing trips in Sri lanka but until now we don't have aboat availeble over there
but in the near future we will have it

To prepare this we invited some verry experiented fisherman to test out teh fishing grounds sie you have to know that only some month ago you where not even allowed to go out with a leisure boat in Sri lanka

These people will go fishing in Sri lanka end of November you should contact them because tehy will be able to give you tips
Jean jaques Ohayon at: marlin1@zahav.net.il

I think that teh best place for of shore fishing is the south point since there it gets deep verry close to shore
We can advice you hotel you can find a good one for about 25 ? a ningt with airco and swiming pool

If you want more info on Sri Lanka, pls contact Gavin gavinj@stretchlinesl.com, he's an avid saltwater anglers with a lot of experience in Sri Lanka/ Maldives.

I've fished in Sri Lanka on the Southern Western Coast, very limited fishing and charter services, however, the mangrove and waterways are a good area to catch large barramundi. Of the coast, the water was shallow for a few kilometers and the sea bed was flat without any coral, all destroyed by over fishing/ Tsunami. The east part/ North part of Sri Lanka is rich in marine life, this is simply because of the civil war, now those areas to be open to fishing.

Good luck

Frank,

Good luck to your friends - thanks to you they will certainly have a decent vessel for trying offshore. Please keep us informed how their fishing goes.

Best regards
patudo
