It could but multimedia is turned off to avoid massive videos in posts. Especially by spammers.

Even embedded video which take up few SFA server resources as opposed to video attachments?

I agree it would take very little server resources. My concern is the same as with people embedding lots of huge pictures that are hosted elsewhere. The page loads so slowly that people with slow connections give up or stop visiting that thread because it takes so long to load.

Actually I tried using the embedding code to test it but I could not get the video to show on the page.
