Freshwater Fishing in Philippines

I'm going to be in Manila for a week or so in July and would like to try a few places for freshwater fishing - I have read Nonong's info on Caliraya with interest and will definitely give there a try for a few days (even though not the best time of year I accept). Can anyone recommend anywhere else to try which is reasonably easy to get to, safe and has some biggish fish. Interested in any species... carp, snakeheads, catfish.

Hi Keith,

I fished a lovely place there about 8 years ago, stayed for 4 days, caught lots of Carp to 16lbs, all Commons and on the last day I had about 15-16 fish!
very good sport all on Peanut. There was acomerdation and food but I dont know the name or location, Forgotbut I know it was in Lagoona near to a massive lake, maybe Nonong can help out, I shall try to get you more Info,
as it really was great, about 4-5 acres with palm trees and all the banks are grass, sorry I cant be of more help, they even cooked up the Peanuts for me

I wonder weather the place you went to is Caliraya Hilltop Resort which has its own ponds. Phoned them today but the girl couldn't really tell me much about the fish in them. Evidently the resort is open but has no electricity and is only a few minutes walk away from Lagos Del Sol. Could be worth a try though as it sounds as if the bass fishing is quite hard during the wet season and I might need a confidence booster after struggling on the big lake...

That looks great but not the place I went to, this place was basic but lovely
setting and great action! see if I can get more Info for you,

1) Pantabangan
2) Lake Caliraya
3) Lake Lumot
4) Coloong, Valenzuela
5) Lakeshore in Pampanga

These, so far, are the ones i have heard of.
